Same cornfield, day two. The feast is on until the cobs are gone, then silence returns. I waited just for flight. This swift passโblack hood, chestnut cloak, pale billโcut across the soft green and finally gave me the moment I hoped for.

โข ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ & ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Open fields, grasslands, paddy and millet/corn plots; mainly grass seeds and grain, takes tiny insects occasionally.
โข ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด: Nests in small colonies; ball-shaped grass nests low in reeds or crops; monsoon-linked breeding with both parents feeding chicks.
โข ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ: Widespread across peninsular India, Sri Lanka, and into SE Asia.
โข ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ-๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ: Scaly-breasted Munia lacks the black hood and shows scaly underparts; Indian Silverbill is paler with a silvery bill and uniform buff tones.
